HL7 (Health Level Seven) is a set of international standards for the transfer of clinical and administrative data between healthcare systems. HL7 v2.x is the most widely used standard for ADT (Admit/Discharge/Transfer) feeds, lab results, and clinical messaging. HL7 v3 introduced the Clinical Document Architecture (CDA) for structured documents like care summaries. FHIR is the modern successor to HL7 v2/v3.
